SGA coaches were impressed by how strong the gymnasts performed at the final meet of the season, even though many gymnasts were unbelievably nervous competing in front of a home gym crowd. One of Ballard’s Novice gymnasts even competed a brand-new challenging skill – a back walkover on beam! Across the Novice division for all SGA teams, coaches saw scores rise throughout the season, even with some scores ranging between 9.2 and 9.6!
SGA Coaches were impressed with the leadership of the girls throughout the weekend of the State meet. Maali, an Intermediate gymnast, from SGA Columbia City, not only had a strong meet, but supported her teammates with great positivity. On the Ballard end, Intermediate gymnasts’, Cosette and Portia, stuck some very difficult skills on bars with great confidence. Megan, also an Intermediate gymnast, took first on beam for her age division.
Coach Kim was very impressed with the performance of her Advanced level gymnasts from SGA Columbia City as they worked through a tough practice season — with much bravery, these gymnasts came back for the State meet and competed skills that became fearful for them.
Overall, SGA is incredibly impressed and proud of all the hard work and courage of our Rec-Op gymnasts. Also, thank you to all the parents that helped make the State Rec-Op Gymnastics Meet a success!
