Seattle Preschool – Ballard applies practical teaching strategies through an integrated approach within a theme based curriculum
Children are inherently curious beings. Because every child has a unique way of learning and growing, we have designed a classroom and curriculum that inspires thoughts and interests. We provide our students with a safe and nurturing environment for building their identities, forging lasting relationships and developing a passion for exploring our world.
Each theme in our curriculum is a jumping off point for exploration and investigation. Tangible, relatable topics inspire ideas and encourage children to experience their community, their families and their world with unlimited curiosity.
Philosophy:
At Seattle Preschool – Ballard, play is a medium through which children can develop their social awareness, cognitive abilities, emotion management skills and even strengthen their physical abilities. We believe a balanced blend of self directed play and an integrated approach to theme based curriculum can spark a passion for curious exploration and support the need for discovery as it emerges within each child.
Learning and Developmental Goals:
Seattle Preschool – Ballard utilizes the Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines to gauge child development and set achievable goals for the children in our program. We also use the Washington State Kindergarten Readiness Assessment Guidelines as a benchmark for children making their transition from preschool to Kindergarten.
