Overall, the girls did really well! Vault and bars seemed solid and the judges also mentioned that (besides needing our casts to be at least horizontal). Beam was a little shaky; the way first meets go, with everyone falling at least one time. The judges recommended being stricter with ourselves on connections, and minimizing the dance to remain under time. Floor was also a bit choppy – with some adrenaline-induced falls after tumbling and hurried dance moves. The girls all competed the skills they’ve been practicing, and showed great support for one another despite their nervousness. I’m really proud of them!

I was really impressed with how well these girls did for their first meet! The vault judges let us know that we had very solid vaults and to keep up the good work and make sure to find our landings better. Lauryn “placed” 3rd here. Bars went so well, which was a relief considering we have had the hardest time with those requirement changes from rec-op. They’ve been working so hard. Most of the team started out of a 9.5 because we missed our casting height requirement, however. Beam was a bit shaky because of nerves, but everyone did their skills and stuck their dismounts! Floor went really well and everyone’s tumbling was beautiful!
