The Columbia City boys team traveled to the largest boys competition in the country! This is a meet held at the Westgate Resort & Casino in Las Vegas! It is in conjunction with the Winter Cup competition where the top male gymnasts compete to hold their spot on National Team or in hopes to get that title. What an inspiring thing for these young gymnasts to see some Olympic level gymnastics up close and personal.
Our Level 4 team pulled in some great individual placements along with a 3rd Place team award! Colby Pacquing finished 1st place All Around, Ian Hutto finished 2nd All Around, Hudson Ayers placed 6th All Around and Andrew Cameron came in 4th All Around.
Only three of our Level 5’s made it to the meet and they had a great time! Some highlights were Garner Pelton placed 1st All Around in his division, Tanner Boatman 1st All Around in his division, sweeping gold on every event. Finn Boatman, being in a really tough division, pulled off a well deserved 8th place finish on the Floor exercise!
The Level 6’s had one of their highest team scores of the season. They ended up placing 3rd place as a team! JJ Pacquing took 2nd place All Around, Tom Young tied for 5th, Logan Chynoweth placed 4th All Around, and Shay West placed 6th All Around.
Our Level 7 team pulled off a 5th place finish! Ben Leonardo competed a back layout with a full twist for the first time ever placing 4th on that event out of 24 others! Shay Meseck competed a new vault and tied for 5th on that even out of 24 total gymnasts. Hammet Lear had a solid meet and placed 15th All Around of 32 gymnasts!
Seeing all the top gymnasts from around the country was a big inspiration for the boys and lit the fire for them when they got back into the gym to keep working towards their goals! Go Team!
