On October 19, Lake City Xcel had their first team bonding event of the year. We had the best turn out of any bonding event yet! The gymnasts met and made friends with girls in each level, many of whom practice on different days. We played fun gym games and ate delicious tacos!
This month SGA Lake City has decided to feature their Diamond and Platinum teams. All of the girls have seen their months of drilling and hard work pay off. On our Diamond team, Juna Marhotok put her giants on full bar sets, something she has been working up to for over a year. Nathalie Shoji, Liz Umbach, and Klara Tarczy-Hornoch are doing giants on their own on the pit bar. Allison McGinnis took her vault, a Tsuk, on to the competitive landing surface, something she has been working on for several years. Summer Krammer is hard at work perfecting her Tsuk and Margo Morris has been perfecting her full on the floor. Gigi Gerst has been sticking her vaults after making great corrections on her twist.
On our Platinum team, Mari Torii-Karch is making great strides on getting her flyaway, a skill she used to find terrifying, but now knows is really fun! Mikayla Kirchoff and Keira Villescas have made great progress on their roundoff back handspring back tucks. Mariah Pritchard put har roundoff backhand spring on the floor for the first time and Katie Chaleunphonh made her front tuck-front tuck on floor. Evelyn Groves, Ciara McGinnis, Jemma Bosselman and Camille Pape have made a lot of progress on their vaults!
