Our Philosophy

We strive to create a positive and fully inclusive environment, where children of all abilities, backgrounds and learning styles can flourish, and believe overcoming challenges can provide the building blocks to accomplish goals throughout life.

We work every day to help kids of all ages, genders and abilities discover their own strength and confidence through the sport of gymnastics. That’s why the majority of our programming focuses on recreational gymnastics; while we proudly offer and support competitive programs, we understand not every family is looking for that level of commitment (both financial and time), and not every gymnast has a competitive goal. Our recreational programs allow gymnasts to build progressive gymnastics skills they can be proud of, while enjoying the ability to pursue interests in other sports or extracurriculars, and take the next step into competition if they choose.

We believe a supportive staff, a safe environment and careful progression is the key to successful gymnastics and children. Many of us on staff can personally attest to the physical and mental toughness we learned as gymnasts helping us in our adult life—and we’re happy and honored to be a part of that journey with our gymnasts today. No matter how long they stay or how far they go, we hope they retain a little piece of what gymnastics taught them throughout their lives!

Partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA)

At Seattle Gymnastics Academy, we also place importance on an additional dimension: building character. The mindset to think about what happened, make a correction and try again. To further support this initiative, SGA has partnered with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a national non-profit developing “Better Athletes, Better People” by working to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character-building sports experience. As a catalyst for a positive youth sports culture, Positive Coaching Alliance provides research-based training and resources for coaches, parents, athletes and leaders to ensure a positive youth development experience for ALL kids, in all communities across the U.S., through sports.
