Holiday Giving: SGA community support for Treehouse and youth in foster care
The holidays are here, with so much to be thankful for. But for Washington’s over 10,000 kids in foster care, the holidays can be a particularly difficult time – away from familiar people and places, uncertainty in their immediate future, unsure if anyone will remember them when festivities take place.
Since 1988, Treehouse’s core mission has been to ensure every child that has experienced foster care has the opportunities and support they need to pursue their dreams and launch successfully into adulthood. In 2017, Treehouse achieved a major goal when their youth nearly doubled their high school graduation rate in just 5 years.
For years now, SGA has been proud to partner with Treehouse to help support kids in foster care. And every year, the kindness and generosity of our community helps fuel these efforts.
This year, we have three ways to support Treehouse:
- Drop off new, unwrapped clothing and toys for foster kids to any SGA location (Ballard, Burien, Columbia City or Lake City). Please drop-off items by December 15 to ensure we can get them to Treehouse in enough time for holiday distribution.
- Donate a monetary gift to our Treehouse fundraising page, which you can find here. Donate anytime, no cut-off date.
- Purchase a wishlist item from Treehouse’s Dream List, which will be sent directly to the organization. Donate anytime, no cut-off date as items are continuously needed and wishlists are updated.
Donations received not only help brighten the holidays, but also help ensure the Treehouse free store for youth in foster care remains stocked with items that help kids feel good and fit in with their peers. Thanks to generous donations, Treehouse distributes clothing and toys to youth all across the state, all year long. You can learn more about the Treehouse non-profit organization here.
We are filled with gratitude for our community this holiday season. Thank you for supporting SGA, Treehouse and youth in foster care!
