Burien & Columbia City Xcel Teams at Skookum Showdown

The weekend of March 7-9, our Burien & Columbia City Xcel Teams were at the Skookum Showdown – and these teams are rocking it both in their gymnastics and in their teamwork, confidence and sportsmanship. Here’s the coaches:
BURIEN:
Coach Nikita: “Skookum Showdown was all about glow-in-the-dark and dance parties! Definitely a fun way to end the regular season, and the girls rocked it again! Our jumps on beam are exploding more than ever. It’s so fun watching the gymnasts get more comfortable in the air above a 4-inch wide balance beam. These girls are also improving on controlling their landings, and there were a lot of stuck landings this meet. We had a combined total of 13 top-three finishes between individual events and all-around. We also had 7 gymnasts finish the meet with an all-around score of 36.0 or higher! Thats an average of 9.0 on each even or better! And let’s not forget that the Silver team brought home another 1st place team award!
“I can’t believe the regular season is over already. Now it is time to prepare for the state competition. We have a few weeks to fix any last minute adjustments. I have total confidence in these young ladies. I believe they can do anything they put their minds and hearts into. Thank you for letting me be your coach, Burien Xcel! Let’s get to work!”

COLUMBIA CITY:
Coach Jayme: ”Our last meet of the season until state at the end of the month. Once again, everyone had a really great meet and they were so much fun to watch. There were a few hiccups during warm up, but they were able to work through them and come out stronger on the other end. We’re happy to be back in the gym now, getting ready for the state meet!”
